On December 1st, 2001 while on short final to Flyers Airpark in Linden North Carolina, Gene Byrd was blinded by the sun. He initated a go-around but the wing snagged a tree. Gene had only minor injuries, a cut to the head and hand and bruises from the seatbelt and sholder harness.
